Why Choose Our Plug-in Picture Lighting Fixtures?
At Situ Art Lighting, we are dedicated to bringing you the utmost in quality and convenience in plug-in picture lights. Our LED art lights are incredibly easy to install and come with step-by-step instructions, simple enough to follow along without professional assistance. Our collection includes a wide range of designs and sizes to suit a variety of styles, artworks, and décor. Each fixture is UV and infrared safe and is made of fine materials to offer long-term enjoyment of your piece of art.
Easy Installation for Any Room
Our plug-in LED art lights are designed for quick, simple installation. Each fixture is able to mount to the back of the artwork or the wall behind it, allowing all mounting hardware to be discreetly hidden behind your piece. The included power supply plugs into any standard outlet for easy installation for renters and homeowners alike that may wish to avoid permanent electrical work. Note that our Resources section includes an article about how to conceal wiring from an art lighting fixture. Should you wish to move your lighting installation in the future, our plug-in picture lights can be easily removed and re-installed for further use. The installation instructions included with each light were written in house by our team members with hands-on experience, so we’re always happy to answer any questions you may have.
Protect Your Art with Low Heat and UV-Free Lighting
When lighting a cherished piece of artwork, the last thing you want is to damage it with heat and harsh UV. Our art lights utilize some of the finest LEDs available, offering UV safety and little to no heat transmittal, ensuring that your valuable or delicate artwork is illuminated via one of the safest and most energy efficient means of lighting.
Superior Craftsmanship and Durability
We use fine materials to craft each of our plug-in art lights for high quality performance and feel. Most of our brass plug-in fixtures utilize genuine brass (with the exception of the 56” Plug-in Vision Series) while all other finishes use finely finished aerospace grade aluminums. All finishes are brushed or sandblasted to offer a premium appearance.
These fixtures will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of your installation but also offer long-lasting performance. Our proprietary optic systems and top-of-the-line LED arrays offer 70,000 hours of use (35 years at 5 hours a day) for beautifully illuminated artwork for years to come.
Explore Our Range of Plug-in Art Lights
Our plug-in art light collection includes a wide range of sizes and styles, from traditional bars like the Plug-in Vision Series, track style lighting with the Plug-in ArtTrack, to the world’s smallest art light, the Plug-in Micro Series. We offer numerous finishes across each style to allow you to best complement your artwork and décor. Each fixture comes in multiple sizes for various sizing needs, and our team is always happy to weigh in with recommendations if you are unsure.
Modern and Classic Designs to Suit Any Décor
Regardless of your décor preferences, we have an art light to fit your needs. Our art lights are available in a range of styles that blend well in any setting. Our Plug-in Classic Series offers a traditional feel with genuine mahogany and acrylic options, while the Plug-in Vision Series is a similar bar style fixture that is transitional to suit both classic and modern décor alike. The Plug-in Micro Series is another fixture that can suit any décor choice, as these fixtures are small enough to escape attention. The Plug-in ArtTrack is our most modern design, with sleek, stylish heads combinable for even the largest artwork.
Adjustable Lighting for Perfect Art Illumination
Every fixture we offer provides numerous means of adjustment to get light where you need it. Pivotable heads and bars allow you to shift light placement up or down, focusing the beam on the artwork itself and not the wall above it. Most fixtures available offer vertical height adjustment, which can help mitigate both glare from a fixture as well as possible vignetting. The Plug-in Micro Series also offers numerous, individually placeable LEDs within one small head, providing an easy means of adjustment to cover different sizes and shapes of artwork with a single fixture. While our lights all come in a standard depth and can’t be shortened once received, we’re always able to review the needs of an installation and offer customization of both shorter and longer distances.
Tips & Tricks for Installing and Using Plug-in Picture Lights
While we try to make installing your plug-in picture light as simple as possible, there is always some nuance to choosing the best placement for your art light. Here are some tips to get your installation perfect (and keep it that way!):
• Ensure you artwork is centered and level before proceeding with mounting your art light. You'll also want to use a level to ensure the art light is even with the frame.
• Choose whether to mount to the frame or the wall based on the needs of your installation. If you have a thin, delicate frame, mounting to the wall may be better. If you instead have plaster walls, mounting to the frame may be preferred. While mounting directly to the artwork is usually easiest, mounting to the wall is always the most secure. Make an informed decision before proceeding.
• Test your fixture before installation to ensure your outlet works and that you'll be pleased with both the coverage and appearance of the picture light.
• Drilling a pilot hole will assist with mounting the fixture and is particularly important for old or delicate surfaces.
• We recommend having the art light rest about 1” - 2” above the top edge of your artwork, though raising the fixture higher relative to your artwork will help mitigate glare and vignetting. Read more about where vignetting comes from in the following article: Click here
• Mounting your light to the bottom of your artwork as uplighting is another great way to mitigate glare and offer a unique presentation. This works particularly well for installations over mantles.
• Always make sure to use your plug-in picture light with the provided power supply only. Using any other power supply can be dangerous and could damage your fixture.
